HISTORY

AS IF FATHER TIME HAD ANOINTED ONE MAN
TO MAKE THE HOURS PASS BEAUTIFULLY.

Even from the very beginning of his life, Louis Moinet had an appointment with time. Although he was born into a well-to-do farming family in Bourges, France in 1768, he quickly realized that his passions and ambitions would not be realized in farming, but in the classroom. A bright and diligent student, Louis Moinet distinguished himself from others with his aptitude for classical studies and earned many honors and awards during academic competitions.

When a young Louis Moinet was introduced to the world of horology, the art and science of creating timepieces, he knew this was where his passions would be realized and he spent all of his free time by the side of a master watchmaker. He was also drawn to the world of art and spent many hours being tutored by an Italian painter. It would not be long before Louis Moinet fused his knowledge of art and horology to develop some of the most magnificent timepieces the world has ever seen.
